Fly-In-Spain Helicopter Training School - JAR-FCL
Jerez de la Frontera
We are a UK CAA registered facility with the ability to offer the full JAR-FCL training package for Private Pilots Licence for Helicopters (PPL H) here in Spain.
All your training will be done in English, even the Air Traffic Controllers speak to you in English!
All english speeking persons can do training with us, form all over Europe and the rest of the world!
We have UK Flight Instructors, Ground School Examiners and Flight Examiners.
Our main training aircraft is a Schweizer/Hughes 269C, one of the safest training helicopters, established for over 40 years.
This type of helicopter has been used for training since Howard Hughes introduced it to the US military in the 1960’s. Then it was known as the TH55 being used to train Pilots for the Vietnam conflict. When it came into the civil world it was first called the Hughes 269A. After some modifications, like moving the pilot from the right hand seat to the left hand seat and beefing up the engine, the reason being that by removing the dual controls you could fit a small seat in between the pilot and co-pilot, making it a tight fit three seater helicopter, it became known as the Hughes269B or Hughes300 (3 seats) for better marketing.
Hughes then improved it again by using longer blades, a higher mast and an even bigger engine, now the Hughes 269C/300C was born and to this day is still being used. With all the years and thousands of hours completed by this type of helicopter you can see now why we use it.
We take our training very seriously, but in a relaxed atmosphere here in Spain.
Here are a few words from our CFI for Helicopters..
“I have been teaching people to fly helicopters for the last fifteen years in the UK. Because the weather and people’s work commitments get in the way of their flight training, most courses have taken over a year to complete. I was asked to come down to Spain last year and help the already busy Fixed Wing school to get their Helicopter section off the ground, excuse the pun. I can tell you that it is great fun. I have been completing courses in four weeks.
The weather and the relaxed atmosphere play a major part in the student’s progress.
The trick is to get your ground exams out of the way before you start your flying, even though we have Ground School Examiners it would really pay dividends if you have these completed before you get here. Then it is Fly-in-Spain all the way every day. Even if you can only spare a week at a time. It’s not like flying to the USA which is like going to another planet and another time zone, Ryanair will have you here in just about two and half hours from Stansted and no jetlag. That week of flying will be the equivalent of three months in the UK.“

Maybe you are thinking of taking some time out from your busy schedule? And you are serious about getting your PPL H? Then call/email us and start the ball rolling, whether it’s for a day, a week, one whole week or the four week course, we will endeavour to meet your needs.
We do our training on a Schweizer 269C and have just recently added the Robinson R44 to our expanding fleet. We are looking forward to the arrival of a Bell 206 and hopefully an MD500.
