Private Pilots Licence (PPL-A)

The following steps are required to obtain a PPL (JAR-FCL) from the british CAA:

A medical certificate: We recommend you get this before startíng any training. We also have a doctor near Jerez for the class 2 medical - just ask!

It is important that you get this certificate prior to your fist solo flight!

Theoretical knowledge / training you will be required to pass written tests on the following subjects:

  • Aviation law and operational procedures
  • meteorology
  • navigation
  • aircraft general
  • human performance and limitations
  • flight performance and planning
  • RT - radio telefon

Your possibilities:

  • Self-study, using books (e.g. the "Air Pilots Manual" - former "Trevor Thom" series 1-7). To verify your knowledge, we also recommend the PPL Confuser, which contains a lot of possible questions in multiple choice style.
  • Self-study, using a computer-based training pack
  • Formal classroom studies

We recommend self-study because you can do it at your own pace, before your flight training or between sessions. We will of course help with any questions you might have. If you prefer formal training with one of our instructors, please contact us! Also, we strongly recommend to prepare the theoretic knowledge back home, so you can concentrate on flying when you are with us in Jerez.

If you need some hours of basic training to prepare for the exam, we will provide it at any time in Jerez.

You have to pass the written exam in all the required subjects. We have a CAA-authorized examiner on staff, so all the exams can be taken at our offices in Jerez. Failing a test is no problem because you can repeat it whenever you like!

Accelerated flight training

If you like to do a accelerated flight training we strongly recommend, to prepare the theory back home. So that you can sit for the exams after your arrival in Jerez aside of the fist part of your flight training.  This gives you the possibility to concentrate on the flight training.

If you are prepared to spent more time with us in Jerez, it is also possible, that you take theory lessons with one of your instructor to prepare yourself for the test.

But in any case our instructors will always give you some additional ground school if you need some help for one of the subjects – don’t worry we take care of you to get you pass everything!

Practial Flight Training

Flight training takes place completely in Jerez.

For basic training, we use a small, remote airport away from any heavy air traffic to ensure a relaxed atmosphere for your first flights.

Later, we are changing to Jerez Airport, so you will learn how to fly around international airports.
