IR – Rating – Single-Engine or Mulit-Engine
The aim of the course is to train the student to safely and effectively command an aeroplane (single / multi-engine) under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) with an approach to land down to a minimum decision height of 200ft (60m).
Experience Requirements
- Hold a PPL (A) with night qualification/rating OR a CPL (A)
- Flight Radiotelephony Operators Licence
- 50 hours cross-country in aeroplanes (as pilot in command)
see also our time-building program!
Theory training
- in the following subjects:
- Air Law & Operational Procedures Aeroplanes
- Flight Performance and Planning
- Meteorology
- Navigation
- Communications (IFR)
- Aircraft General Knowledge
- Human Performance And Limitations
We offer you for the theory training
- distance learning program – online based..
just have a look at the “Theory section”
Finaly you have to pass the 7 exams with the authority, where you do the training.
We suggest to finish this, before starting with the flight training.
If you have done already your examas in any of the JAR countries,
you can do with us the Flight-Training for the IR and ME-IR
Flight Training
We have different possibilities to offer you the flight training. You should consider what you will need the Instrument Rating for
- If you will use it for private purpose we suggest you to take a maximum of 20 hours in a Simulator and do the rest of the flight training in a real aircraft. This will give you the possibility to gain enough experice to fly by yourself later on.
- If you will use it for commercial flying, based on a modular training up to your ATPL qualification you may do the 35 hours of Simulator training towards your IR-Rating and the remaining 15 hours in the aircraft.
Training Single-Engine IR
- 50 hours dual flight instruction in instrument flying
(this can be all in aircraft, or a mixture between Simulatior and Aircarft) - Pass an IR skill test
If you like to upgrade form a IR-SEP to a IR-MEP there is only a 5 hour training required (ME-VFR holding)!
This is the most cost effectiv way to the ME-IR!
Training Multi-Engine IR - (integrated)
- 55 hours dual flight instruction in instrument flying
- Of which 15 hours must be in multi-engine aeroplanes
(Up to a maximum of 40 hours may be gained in an approved flight simulator or FNPT 2 )
(holding of a MEP - VFR is a pre entry requirement)
Special Cases
- Holders of valid IMC Rating or a UK CPL (A)
If training and testing is completed before 30 June 2002 a reduction in the approved training requirement of 12 hours of dual instruction in - Holders of a JAR CPL (A) or JAR ATPL (A)
A reduction in the approved training requirement of 5 hours of dual instruction in instrument flying - Holders of a IR (Helicopters)
A reduction in the approved training requirement of 10 hours of dual instruction in instrument flying
Important – information - If you also do the CPL training
For the Issue of the CPL licence, you have to have in total 200 hours flying time.
So just consider, that simulator time will not count towards the requirement of the 200 hours
So it maybe interesting, to do more hours for the IR-Rating on the Aircraft than on the simulatior…!
This are the requirements:
| Flight - Training | duration | flying hour | ||
| IR-SEP | about 4 weeks, or in steps* | 50 | in SEP Aircraft /and-or Sim* | |
| IR-MEP | 4 to 5 weeks, or in steps* | 55 | 40 h in SEP + 15 hours in ME | |
|
holdoing a MEP-Rating | ||||
| ME-IR - pick up | 1 week or less | 5 | MEP-VFR holding | |
| Holding a CPL licence |
you will get a credit of 5 hours on SEP flight training |
|||
| IR- SEP | 45 | |||
| IR- MEP | 50 | MEP-VFR- holding | ||
